I’m Holly and co-founder of BlogFrog, a web-based company offering community-building tools for bloggers and brands. I’ve spent my career helping launch start-ups in the internet, multimedia, entertainment, video, and other high-tech industries. A few of the start-ups I’ve helped grow include online advertiser Matchlogic (acquired by Excite), internet performance tool Service Metrics (acquired by Exodus), network storage provider LeftHand Networks (acquired by HP), and Thought Equity Motion, an innovative cloud-based storage and licensing service for digital video.
I have a degree in Mathematics from Washington College and studied telecommunications at Johns Hopkins University. I grew up on the eastern shore of Maryland where I learned to sail, swim and fly single engine aircraft. I was lucky enough to combine my love of technology and flying by marketing telecom services to the aerospace industry for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon). I traveled the US working with companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas helping them build their data networks. Corporate life quickly began sucking the life out of my soul, so I moved to Colorado to get involved in the tech start-up scene.
I am a contributing writer on technology and marketing to various publications, an American Marketing Association “Marketer of the Year” recipient, and a blogger for The Huffington Post. I’m on the Board of Advisors for the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship and sit on the Deming Center Women’s Council helping foster entrepreneurial and tech interest in students (especially women). I’ve spoken at over a dozen conferences (including BlogHer, Digital Impact Conf, Blissdom, WordCamp, TypeACon) on topics related to women and technology, entrepreneurship, marketing, social media, and building successful online communities.
I got interested in sports during college where I played varsity softball, swam competitively, and was on the diving team. In addition to entrepreneurial and tech interests, I run triathlons and hope to someday run a full Ironman.
I love my chaotic, fun-loving house full of teenagers and am slowly working my way through my bucket-list. If you ever bump into me at a conference or on the street, I’d love to know one thing on your own list. We have the same numbers of hours in the day that Amelia Earhart, Eleanor Roosevelt and Mother Theresa had so there is no excuse for not being up to something big.
Thank for stopping by! I love hearing from readers so email me any time at holly (at) theblogfrog (dot) com.
